(Chuck Muth) – Although Republican Assembly District 36 candidate Dennis Hof tragically passed away before Election Day, his name will still appear on the November 6th ballot.
The choice for AD-36 voters will be between Dennis and Democrat Leisa Romanov. No other candidates filed to be on the ballot for this race.
If Romanov wins, this seat will go to the Democrats…and will likely give them a veto-proof majority in the Assembly.
That means even if Gov. Laxalt vetoes the craziest bills the Democrats might pass, Democrats would have the votes to override his veto.
Or if Democrat Steve Sisolak is elected governor, the Democrats will be able to pass his massive tax hikes by the 2/3 super-majority required by our Constitution. Republicans won’t have the 15 votes in the Assembly to block them.
On the other hand, should Dennis still win the AD-36 race on November 6th, the three county commissions within which the district lies – Nye, Clark and Lincoln – will appoint someone to fill Dennis’ term…
And that person MUST be a Republican who lives in the district!
Not only would Dennis’ victory be the ultimate “FU” to the Carson City “establishment” that tried to destroy him politically – as well as destroy his businesses and reputation – but it would keep District 36 “red.”
There is NO DOUBT that Dennis would have wanted us to see this campaign through to the end.
Like Moses, he won’t get to the “promised land” with us. But we can – and should – win this for him on November 6th anyway.
VOTE HOF!
